Anyone who knows me well knows that I love to take a bath. For me, it is the ultimate form of relaxation and can cure almost anything. Give me a bathtub, book, and a cup of tea and I am a very happy person. My love of the bath started when I had back problems in high school. I would come home from school with a spasming back and literally spend hours in the tub to get relief. I eventually healed my back by building a stronger core but I never lost my love for the tub. When it came time to think about how I might want to give birth one day, I was immediately drawn to the idea of a waterbirth and I had both of my babies in inflatable tubs! After many years of those builder basic, uncomfortable built in tubs I was very excited when we found our current house, because it came with a beautiful clawfoot tub! And I have loved that clawfoot tub and have spent many hours in it over the past 3 years.
We haven’t talked about it too much yet, but we are moving to a new house in a couple of weeks. We’re jumping back across the river to Southwest Portland to a bigger house with a bigger yard in a great community with a better commute for Bryston. Sounds pretty perfect, right? There is only one problem, this house does not currently have a bathtub in it. Now don’t worry, there are remodel plans in the works so that I will have a bathtub again, but for probably about a year or two I will have no tub. As soon as we found out that we were moving I made a goal to take a bath everyday until we move and I think I’ve succeeded thus far. I’m honestly not sure how I’m going to feel without a bathtub so let me know if you have any tips for how I might fill this void in my life until I can get a tub again.
Also, did I mention that we’re moving? With two small children and a dog. And we’re getting our house ready to list and sell (hopefully quickly and for over the asking price!). All this to say, things are a little busy around here so we might be quiet from time to time. But don’t worry, we’ll be back on track very soon.
Update- so I wrote this and meant to post it a couple weeks ago but as I said, we were a little busy over here and I didn’t even manage to post this “hey we’re busy” post! We have now moved, and we accepted an offer on our house (in less than 48 hours and over the asking price!!). I also have adjusted to a no bathtub life and so far it’s going fine!
